Abstract

Nematode parasites of the family Allantonematiclae were found in the body cavity of male and female Polygenis tripus . This is the first time such parasites have been recorded in South American fleas and in a representative of the family Rhopalopsyllidae. P. tripus commonly occurs on wild rodents in Brazil and is a potential vector of bubonic plague in certain parts of the country.
