Abstract

Polyamides in high-performance liquid chromatography A method is described for coating polyamide on non-porous spherical glass beads. Six different polyamides are studied and a linear relationship is found between the capacity factor k′ and the number of peptidic sites (CONH) per gram of column packing; for a single polyamide it is also shown that k′ is proportional to the amount of polymer in the column. Some applications are proposed; on that occasion the dual chromatographic nature of polyamide is recalled and the possible use of polyamide as a reversed-phase material is pointed out.
