Abstract

An important class of materials for research on friction- and wear-related applications is reinforced materials. A novel composite that can save the energy, can be created using PEEK polymer reinforced by nanosized material. Doped nanomaterials, which are a powerful amalgam of organic and inorganic materials, are stronger inorganic than PEEK polymer. Strong materials with new properties can be created through the synergistic effect. In order to perform operations relating to friction and wear, Cobalt doped ZnO-PEEK nanocomposite has been attempted to be synthesized in this work using an ultrasound approach. Techniques like TEM, SEM, XRD, EDS, UV-DRS and FT-IR have been used to characterize the material. The characterization supported the manufacturing with PEEK polymer and cobalt addition to ZnO. The synthetic composite was subsequently examined for tribological uses. Doping with cobalt was found to significantly improve tribological characteristics. The prepared materials and pure PEEK have been contrasted. The outcomes were crucial for creating a novel material for use in operations related to energy.
