Abstract

This study investigated the concentration distribution, patterns and sources of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) residues in the water samples from Huangpu River; The seasonal and spatial variations of the OCPs concentrations were also analyzed. Except for methoxychlor, the other 20 OCPs were all detected in the water samples from Huangpu River. The concentrations ranged from 0.29 to 44.7(median 2.54) ng·L-1.HCH was the predominant OCP,followed by DDTs,the concentrations of which were 0.13-38.3(median 0.92)ng·L-1,and 0.03-3.28(median 0.63) ng·L-1 respectively.HCH concentration increased from upstream to downstream. However,DDT had no obvious spatial variation.HCH and DDT concentrations in Huangpu River showed a seasonal pattern:low in summer, high in winter, and medium in spring and autumn.
