Abstract

The present work aims to present a discussion about political representation, analyzing the concepts, ideas and representative practices, as well as the formation of representative government through classical theories, relating them to the control exercised by the people through the carrying out of regular and periodic elections. The aim is to debate the importance of judging those represented through regular and periodic elections, a mechanism made available to the people as a criterion for choosing those who will receive the delegation to make the community's main decisions. Thus, we seek to verify whether the electoral process would be the most appropriate means for the population to exercise the power to choose and dismiss their representatives, as well as to exercise accountability over those who will decide on the policies and actions to be implemented in society. . The work will consist of theoretical research, in an exploratory and explanatory manner, with a qualitative approach. As a theoretical foundation, bibliographical research was used through works and websites specializing in the topic.
