Abstract

The part played by school learning in political socialization continues to be the subject of extensive research and debate. As a contribution to the discussion, a survey was carried out in 1987 which examined the political literacy of High School students in Papua New Guinea, a country which won independence in 1975 and which has maintained, since then, a democratic system of government.
