Polis Akademisi Kapsamlı Gelişimsel Rehberlik Programının Orta Vadeli Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

A project has been initiated in Police Academy Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department, for shifting their guidance approach to developmental guidance model. The main goal of this research-development modeled project is to design, implement, evaluate and revise Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Program (CDGP) for the sake of supporting life career development of candidate chief police and police offi cers. The purpose of this study is to share medium-term evaluation data of Police Academy CDGP. In order to evaluate CDGP in medium-term, a questionnaire has been applied to students at the end of the term, and a focus group discussion has been made with Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department staff. Frequency and percentage techniques have been used on data obtained from questionnaire for quantitative data analysis, and descriptive content analysis has been used for qualitative data analysis. It is identifi ed from quantitative data analysis that; students adopted project works, they perceived CDGP as benefi cial for their current and future life, and they want developmental focused works to continue. When qualitative data were analyzed, it was found out that; developmental focused works of Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department has been shifted to preventive and developmental oriented approach from treatment oriented, interaction with students has been enhanced with the help of classroom guidance and psycho-education programs, a fi duciary interaction has been formed with students and administrative staff due to observable and concrete practices, and psychological counselors have more time for CDGP administration in schools with team focused and proof based works. Obtained mediumterm evaluation data show us, CDGP designed for Police Academy Students is a helpful and must continue program for both students and psychological counselors as practitioners
