Abstract

The piezoelectric and dielectric properties of 0.05Pb(Mn 0.4 W 0.2 Nb 0.4 )O 3 - 0.95Pb(Zr x Ti 1 m x )O 3 ceramics have been investigated as a function of mole ratio x and sintering temperature. In the ceramic with x=0.51, which is MPB, the values of kp, d 33 , tan i and l 33 T / l 0 are maximized, on the other hand Qm is minimized. Curie temperature of the ceramic is measured to be 350°C by DTA. Dielectric constant of poled ceramic is increased in tetragonal phase, but it is decreased by poling in rhombohedral phase, as compared with that of unpoled ceramic. The trends of variation in dielectric constant can be explained in terms of dipole switching, electrostriction inducing stress and dipole rotation to the poling direction.
