Abstract

A polarization conversion of a single photon using a semiconductor quantum dot (QD) coupling to a two-mode optical microresonator (MR) is studied. The rotation angle of the polarization vector depends on the orientation of QD axes with respect to MR ones, parameters of the system, and a conversion regime. A nanostructure based on a two-dimensional photonic crystal coupling to a single-electron QD is considered as the possible converter design. It is shown that this structure can also act as a beam splitter and perform the quantum operation NOT on a spatial photon qubit.
