Abstract

Parenting aplied by parents to children will affect the many developments, One of them is the child’s emotional mental development. This study aims to determine the relation of parenting patterns to the emotional mental development of pre- school age children (4-6 year). The method used is analytic correlation with cross sectional approach. Population in this study were all parents of kindergarten Aisyiyah (ABA) 24 Malang totaled 88 respondents. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling, that is as much as 72 respondents. The instrument of data collection used is questionnaire on parenting and emotional mental problem (KMME). By Chi-square statistical test with α 0,05; degrees of freedom (dk) (2), obtained χ2 table = 5,991 and χ2 count = 7,903. hence H0 rejected, meaning there is significant relation between parenting parenting to emotional mental development of child in kindergarten Aisyiyah (ABA) 24 Malang. Based on the above research, it can be concluded that the pattern of care that is applied democratic parenting, so that children do not experience emotional mental disorders.
