Abstract

This paper is is a comparative approach to two poetry anthologies written by republican authors in the context of the Spanish Civil War. The first one, Poetas en la Espana Leal, was published during the war and includes verses by Spanish poets of different generations, while Romancero General de la Guerra Espanola appeared in Buenos Aires in 1944 and is a sample of the popular character of the struggle against fascism. The contrast between both books shows different ways of understanding poetry as an instrument of resistance of the antifascist cause in Spain.
