Abstract

Purpose: Focal therapy, for localized prostate cancer, is an appealing therapeutic option for selected men who do not wish to undergo surgery, definitive radiation therapy, or other “whole gland” treatment. Focal therapy, as a treatment, has been studied using various tissue ablative therapies, including Iodine-125 brachytherapy. This report describes the short-term outcomes of a small group of patients staged, using a transperineal mapping biopsy to histologically confirm lateralized prostate cancer, and treated with focal Cesium-131 brachytherapy.
