PMD18 Reduction in Pedicle SCREW Placement Time with a Guidewireless Pedicle SCREW System for Minimally Invasive SPINE Surgery

Abstract

Minimally invasive surgical (MIS) approaches in spinal surgery are considered to have less perioperative blood loss and shorter duration of hospitalization compared to open procedures. However, steeper learning curves, higher technical demand, longer operating times and fluoroscopy exposure are common challenges. The VIPER PRIME™ System was designed to mitigate these challenges by introducing the first pedicle screw placement system with a screw tip design and stylet that obviates the need for pedicle preparation.
