Abstract
The cheap, durable plastics has become an essential part of our life nowadays, but it has created environmental crisis, affecting all life present on earth. Roughly, even ocean's 40 % surface is being covered with plastics debris and about 8 billion tonnes of it is entering every year into it. Macroplastics when undergo weathering and degradation, causes microplastics formation. Even snow from Mt.Everest has shown presence of microplastics. They are found in soil also affecting soil fauna, for which polymer fertilizer and pesticides are the contributors. The microplastics have been found accumulated in biofiltering animal bodies. They have found their way into all types of food chains.Present paper discusses about the sources, travel pathway and effects of plastics in all forms, on fauna present in land, soil and the most affected ones present in oceans. Suggestions have been given for proper management of the plastics, to save the living world, before it's too late.. KEYWORDS :Plastics, Debris, Fauna, Food Chains, Grim Picture
