Abstract

The deformation dislocation structures in a quench-tempered steel have been investigated by using TEM. In the plastic deformation process the interfaces between ferrite and carbide can release dislocations, and then the moving dislocations in ferritic matrix can interacte with the dislocations released from carbide interfaces. Finally, the dislocation tangles are formed around carbides. The formation of dislocation tangles and cells is the important strengthening source of this steel.
