Abstract

Spectral features and nanosensing of hexagonal array of holes with a circular cross section metamaterial are investigated by performing the three dimensional finite difference time domain simulation. Fabry-Perot resonance effect and localized surface plasmon resonance of the hexagonal holes array generate absorption peak under normal incidence. Besides the geometrical parameters of the nanostructure, absorption characteristics strongly depend on the refractive index of environmental or dielectric layer. The results of this paper may have potential application not only in plasmonic absorber but also in nanosensor.
