Abstract

Twenty-nine-year old male leucoderm patient D.A.S. attended the dentistry outpatient because of progressive volume increase in maxilla area 4 months ago. In anamnesis, patient reports being HIV+ and not taking antiretroviral therapy. At the intraoral physical examination, there was a nodular volume increase of the sessile base measuring 2 cm, which was well vascularized in the area of the upper left alveolar ridge. In view of the presented clinical picture, a clinical diagnosis of Kaposi’s sarcoma was instituted. Incisional biopsy was performed, and the histologic and immunohistochemical slices showed little differentiated malignant neoplasm with 90% of cells positive for ki-67. In view of these findings a definitive diagnosis of plasmablastic lymphoma was instituted. The patient was referred to the hematology department to start the chemotherapy. At present, clinical examination shows complete regression of the lesion. The patient awaits onset of radiotherapy and possible hematopoietic stem cell transplant.
