Abstract

The impurity concentration due to plasma-wall interaction in a troidal fusion device is discussed on the basis of the particle-balance equations. The relations between the effects of the limiter and the impurity fraction in the steady state are analysed. The upper limits of impurity fraction are derived both from the power-balance of the α-particle heating and the impurity radiation loss and from the power diminution due to contamination by impurities in the nuclear burning D-T plasma.
