Abstract Here we describe the analysis of plasma free fatty acids (FFA) only, because the measurement of fatty acids in neutral lipids, phospholipids, and total lipids has already been well documented. Plasma FFA can, furthermore, be produced by oxidatively damaged tissues because hydrolysis of phospholipids is stimulated by oxidative stress (2).
