Abstract

Replica gratings which have been contaminated in monochromators at synchrotron facilities have been successfully cleaned by an RF discharge in oxygen. Results from optical microscopy and grating efficiency measurements are presented. Plasma cleaning of this type holds promise as a rejuvenation method for contaminated gratings.
