Abstract
To improve the rationality of road network planning in scenic areas, the paper proposes that the Importance Method should be used to plan backbone road networks in scenic areas. Nodes are selected according to the layout of scenic spots and service stations, the scenic resources, and the reception capability. Then, the nodes are ranked by their importance. Finally, the backbone road network is established with the Minimum Spanning Tree. Then, the local road plans can be completed and a reasonable structure of the road network can be formed. Sun Island, a scenic area of in Harbin City, was taken as an example to illustrate the applicability of the Importance Method in road network planning. The study shows that the Importance Method can be used as a scientific and reasonable method for the backbone road network planning in scenic areas.
