Abstract

The aim of the study is to analyze the scientific publications about planetariums with regard to bibliometric indicators. Within this context, publications in the Web of Science (WoS) categories were browsed by using the planetarium key word, types of publications, key word networks, numeric distribution according to the years, most cited papers, most cited authors, most cited years, effective researchers, effective journals, effective countries, and effective institutions. A case study, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The bibliometric data in the study were taken from the WoS database created by Clarivate Analytics. Within the content of the bibliometric analysis process, online browsing was carried out on the WoS database. The browsing consists of the years between 1975 and November 25, 2019. The “planetarium” key words were browsed both in the titles of the papers and also in the content of the paper during this browsing. The indexes browsed were identified as SCI-Expended, SSCI, A&HCI, CPCI-S, CPCI-SSH, BKCI-S, BKCI-SSH and ESCI. During the browsing process, 378 records related to the topic were reached among a total of 63.983.680 records. Out of these 378 records, 58 of them were included in the Education/ Educational Research context and this study was limited to the papers/ articles, one of the types of records among them. The data obtained from the study were analyzed via bibliometric analysis. This study revealed that out of 63.983.680 research studies recorded on the WoS database from 1975 to 2019, 378 of them were studies related to the planetariums. It was determined that 58 of these records (%15.38) were included in the education/educational research category.
