Abstract

Currently, there is an intense competition for space between Brazilian Protestant churches, many of them imbued with a strong expansionist vision. In this scenario, taking the right strategy can make the difference between success and death. However, despite the obvious contribution that the Strategic Planning (SP) could add, there is exiguous literature focused specifically on the process of its implementation in Brazilian protestant churches. Thus, this paper describes a SP implementation process on a typical Brazilian protestant church. The research method adopted was the Action Research, chosen by its ability to induce the direct involvement of the researcher with his object of study, generating a comprehensive phenomenon observation. The achievements attest, for similar conditions to this research, the feasibility of the model used for SP and its way of implementation described here. The relevant elements for success and effectiveness of SP, both internal and external to the church, are also presented.
