Abstract
ABSTRACTA pattern reconfigurable planar Yagi‐Uda antenna is presented which operates around 1.5 GHz. The pattern reconfigurability consists in changing the end‐fire main beam to opposite directions. It is achieved by switching the reflector and director elements suitably using PIN diodes such that reflector, dipole, and director arrangements are realized in two opposite directions. Antenna was fabricated and measured to verify impedance matching and radiation patterns. Measured impedance matching fractional bandwidth is 9.33% around 1.50 GHz and compares well with the simulated data. Measured radiation patterns confirm end‐fire pattern reconfigurability as expected from the simulations. This antenna can find applications in back‐to‐back repeater antenna systems. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 55:2946–2952, 2013
