Abstract
The bandwidth of tapered slot antennas (TSAs) is usually limited by the bandwidth of the feed used and typically does not exceed a few octaves, even though the TSA itself possibly can operate at a wider frequency range. Presented, and discussed, is a planar TSA feeding scheme that makes use of an external 180° hybrid. Design guidelines and analytical formulas are presented for this hybrid connection scheme.
