Abstract

A compact octa-band monopole MIMO/Diversity antenna for LTE/WWAN is presented. The main radiating elements consist of a driven element which is directly fed with microstrip line and one parasitic element. The parasitic element provides the wideband nature at higher frequency side. The proposed antenna is designed to cover mobile communication bands LTE700 (band13/14) and GSM800 at lower frequency side and DCS, PCS, GSM1800, GMS1900, UMTS, LTE2600 and Wi-Fi frequency bands at higher frequency side. The lower operating frequency is from 730 MHz to 885 MHz while higher operating frequency is from 1670 MH to 2740 MHz. The isolation between multiple antennas is well below −6dB. The numerically calculated values of envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) of the proposed antenna are less than 0.05 which is well below the allowable limit. The proposed MIMO antenna shows pattern diversity that covers the complementary space region in free space.
