Abstract
This article explores energy production technologies on the horizon that aren't currently feasible. The article discusses fusion power, which promises unlimited power with minimal waste by joining atoms, high-altitude wind power using turbines that take advantage of the jet stream; space-based solar power (SSP), which uses thin-film photovoltaic lenses orbiting Earth, nanotech solar cells to boost photovoltaic efficiency, a global superconducting electrical grid that spans the planet, and the use of underwater turbines to harness the power of waves and tides. INSET: PLAN B: SOONER--OR LATER?.
