Abstract
Background: Fetal exposure to maternal inflammation has been reported with various adverse outcomes in preterm infants. Histological chorioamnionitis has been variably reported to be associated with the development of lung disease including bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD). Most investigators have reported the association of acute inflammatory lesions and maternal vascular under perfusion on placental histopathology with BPD in preterm neonates.
