Abstract

This study investigated to opinions of prospective music teachers about the piano curriculum in teacher training faculties. The sample of the study is composed of 116 prospective music teachers from three different universities. A survey is used to collect the data. The survey has consisted of 38 items related to the goals, content, teaching methods of the curriculum, the quality of the faculty, piano practicing facilities in the university and out of class activities. The results showed that prospective music teachers evaluated the piano curriculum low in standards in most of the aspects. It is clearly understood that the piano curriculum in teacher training faculties need to be studied more deeply for the further development efforts. The results were discussed in terms of their possible reasons and solutions within the context of curriculum development.
