Abstract

The damage of buried oil and gas pipeline has the characteristics of randomness and concealment. Pipeline damage monitoring and safety assessment is a research hotspot at present. Combined with the advantages of local high precision of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and large-scale measurement of ROTDR, a FBG-ROTDR joint system is proposed and FBG-ROTDR based optical fiber sensor is developed to carry out Pipeline safety monitoring. In order to verify the joint system, one leakage model of PVC pipe is established, and multi-point fiber Bragg grating strings and optical fibers are arranged on the PVC pipe for corresponding strain and temperature measurement. Then the technology is used for urban drainage pipeline safety monitoring. The research results show that the FBG-ROTDR joint system can realize local high accuracy strain measurement and continuous temperature measurement of leakage area, and has the function of temperature compensation for local strain measurement.
