Abstract

We have measured the cross section of $^{3}\mathrm{He}$(${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$,${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$)$^{3}\mathrm{H}$ at $T=285, 428, \mathrm{and} 525$ MeV for angles in the range of $60\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}\ensuremath{\lesssim}\ensuremath{\theta}\ensuremath{\lesssim}135\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$ covering the momentum transfer range $0.5\ensuremath{\lesssim}q\ensuremath{\lesssim}1.0$ GeV/c. Comparison is made with Glauber model calculations to discuss the sensitivity to nuclear structure and pion-nucleus interaction effects.NUCLEAR REACTIONS ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}+^{3}\mathrm{He}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}^{3}\mathrm{H}+{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$, $T=285, 428, \mathrm{and} 525$ MeV, ${\ensuremath{\theta}}_{{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}}\ensuremath{\approx}70\ensuremath{-}140\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$; measured $\ensuremath{\sigma}({\ensuremath{\theta}}_{t},{T}_{\ensuremath{\pi}})$. Analysis based on optical and Glauber model predictions.
