Abstract

Results on pion production in collisions of nuclei at p = 4.2 and 4.5 GeV c per nucleon are reviewed. Special attention is given to the data on pion multiplicities and their comparison to theoretical models. “Central” collisions are shown to have Poisson multiplicity distributions.
