Abstract

The most characteristic iconography in the sculptural work of Alonso de Mena (1587-1646) is, without a doubt, Christ crucified. Throughout his extensive artistic life, vertebrate in a productive workshop activity, develop different iconographic types of this statuary model. Through this article we aim to link different pieces located in the Granada environment, stylistic criteria, with his work and workshop. Also, trying to propose a classification of these carvings, providing some guidelines chronological and typological with which to put order and discernment in the whole of a work that, traditionally, used to engage in a chapter without greater nuances.
