Abstract
The article reflects, from previous studies by the author in La Huerta (Quebrada de Humahuaca, Jujuy Province), on the role of the archaeologist’s experiences in the analysis of particular ways of organizing and perceiving space, and in fieldwork as a fundamental instance in generating interpretations about the past. It stands up for the importance of strengthen an experiential approach to the archaeological record as a procedure to extend knowledge in new ways and to deepen critically in existing ones.

Summary
En este trabajo intentaré abordar algunas problemáticas relacionadas con la aplicación de la teoría social contemporánea al análisis de una espacialidad arqueológica –el espacio socialmente construido en el pasado– y el trabajo de campo como instancia fundamental en la generación de interpretaciones sobre el pasado. En un temprano comienzo de mis investigaciones me planteé analizar el modo en que el Imperio Inka construía y resignificaba espacios como forma de dominar poblaciones a lo largo de su territorio. El foco de ese estudio fue el sitio La Huerta, en la Quebrada de Humahuaca, Provincia de Jujuy. A lo largo de las sucesivas excursiones al terreno comprendí que gran parte de mi producción no se basaba en el análisis objetivo de los materiales (cerámica, planos, fotografías) en el laboratorio, sino que encontraba su origen en las experiencias vividas en el sitio.
