Abstract
This elderly woman had not bothered to mention the persistent spot on her nose. It had been present for over a year but, as she said, ‘although it got bigger and seemed to break down at its centre, it caused me no problems and at my age the odd spot here or there did not matter’. However, the nurse attending to her suggested that it needed some attention and referred her to the doctor.
