Abstract

We have measured recovery times of the electronic ground state of Z 2-centers in doped additively colored RbBr crystals following the excitation by a picosecond 1.06 μ m laser pulse. It is shown that the recovery time of Z 2-absorption is 100–300 ps and depends on the concentration of Z 2-centers in the crystal. Besides, a measurement of the transient spectral changes was made. A bleaching in the absorption region of Z 2- and F-centers and an induced Z + 2 absorption band have been observed.
