Abstract
The rate of formation of the intramolecular charge-transfer state of 4- (N,N-dimethylamino) benzonitrile (DMABN) has been determined in supercritical CF 3H using a fast single-photon counting technique. The rate constant increases rapidly with increasing CF 3H density, indicating the importance of the polar environment which is brought about by the CF 3H molecules clustering around DMABN.
