Abstract

Arthropod stings are frequent in our environment. The venom of the spider Loxosceles rufescens has necrotizing, hemolytic, vasculitic and coagulating properties, and the picture can be presented as cutaneous loxoscelism or systemic loxoscelism, less frequent. In the skin it causes pain, erythema and localized edema, followed by the development of necrosis, this is due to vascular alterations, with areas of vasoconstriction and other hemorrhages that lead to local ischemia and sometimes gangrenous plaque.
