Abstract
The paper presents important design characteristics of the control scheme for an FFT-CCD sensor. The hardwaremodule employs a microchip PIC32 core with a Hamamatsu CCD sensor, for image retrieval, conversion and transferto a computer. The paper focuses on describing the core programming for sensor control and USB communication. The description provides useful information for researchers and hardware interface developers. The system wastested for transfer delay in USB connections with different number of endpoints and three endpoint sizes. Resultsshow that USB connections with three endpoints and 64-byte endpoint size have the smallest transfer delay, 1second. Connections with two endpoints increase delay in 100 milliseconds; however, this setup is simpler toimplement.
