Abstract

In this paper, the adsorption process of methylene blue (MB) on Piaçava fibers (PF) was studied through a physical modelling analysis. A two-layer model was selected and used in data fitting. This model assumed that two adsorption energies were responsible for the formation of both layers. Results showed that the MB pollutant was removed via a simultaneous orientation at different temperatures. MB dye was not aggregated at tested experimental conditions. The investigation of the adsorption uptake of this dye indicated that this adsorbent had an excellent performance to adsorb the MB dye compared to available adsorbents in the literature. Overall, physical interactions were responsible for MB dye removal.
