Abstract

In order to test the tolerance of different pepper varieties against Phytophthora capsici Leonian, under field conditions in Tokat county, 20 foreign1 cultivars and one local cultivar (originated from Erbaa) of pepper seeds were sown in plastic tubes under plastic tunnel in the month of April 1988. During the trials Phytophthom capsici Leonian. and Fusarium spp. were observed on some varieties. Whereas Jalaps, Masai, Pepper Ranger Fi, Hybrid Fi Pm3, Hybrid Jalapa and Early Jalapa varieties were not affected by the these two pathogens. The highest yield of 26610 kg/hec. was obtained from Masai va¬riety^ The second high yield variety Hybrid Fi Pm4 gave 23310 kg/hec. Variety Masai being sharp pointed, whereas Hybrid Fi Pm4 being stuf¬fed in nature. Variety Masai gave high pH value and high Vitamin C contents as compared.
