Abstract

This work studies the chemical composition of the leaves of the plant species Annona exsucca DC. Through phytochemical tests and analysis by high efficiency liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometer with electrospray ionization source (LC-ESI-IT-MS/MS) and ion trap type analyzer in addition to direct infusion experiments (FIA-ESI- IT-MS) it was possible to determine the classes of secondary metabolites present in the leaves of this species and to characterize some of these substances, respectively. The results obtained with the phytochemical tests confirmed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, tannins and saponins. While the results obtained by mass spectrometry allowed the characterization of some alkaloids.
