Abstract

Eleven lignans (1–11), one oxylipin vanillyl acetal (12), one monoterpene (13) and one fatty acid (14) were isolated from the roots of Bupleurum scorzonerifolium Willd. The structures of these compounds were elucidated on the basis of NMR spectroscopic methods, as well as by comparison with published data. Among all the isolated compounds, dextrobursehernin (1), 2R,3R-2β-(4''-hydroxy-3''- methoxybenzyl)-3α-(4′-hydroxy-3′-methoxybenzyl)-γ-butyrolactone-2-O-(β-D-glucopyranoside) (5), 7S,8S-4,7,9,9′-tetrahydroxy-3,2′-dimethoxy-4′-allyl-8,4′-oxyneolignan (8), 7R,8S-4,7,9,9′-tetrahydroxy-3,2′-dimethoxy-4′-allyl-8,4′-oxyneolignan (9), syringaresinol 4′-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (11), solacetal C (12), bornyl 6-O-β-D- apiofuranosyl (1 → 6)-β-D-glucopyranoside (13), and methyl-9,12,13- trihydroxyoctadeca-10,15-dienoate (14) were reported from the genus Bupleurum and the family Umbelliferae for the first time. In addition, compound-family network analysis was carried out, and the chemotaxonomic significance of the isolated compounds was also summarized.
