Abstract
Mallotus oppositifolius (Geiseler) Müll. Arg., (Euphorbiaceae), is an endemic shrub from tropical Africa forests and savannas. It is widely used in popular medicine against infections, intestinal worms an malaria. Extracts of different parts of the plant have been shown to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antidiarrheic, antibacterial, antifungal and antitrypanosomal properties. The present work reports the isolation of 32 compounds from the leaves, stem barks and roots. Among these compounds, six phenolic compounds are newly described. Biological assessment of these isolated compounds on Trypanosoma brucei and Leishmania donovani are described.
