This article outlines the role of botulinum toxin as an adjunct to physiotherapy in spasticity management. It stresses the need for a multi-disciplinary approach in order to maximize the potential for a successful outcome. Criteria for effective use of botulinum toxin are discussed, and the importance of constant evaluation through outcome measures is emphasized.
