Abstract
A study was made of the effect of treatment by the joint action of high pressure and shear deformation on low density PE homopolymers and isotactic PP and PP-polyethylene and PP-ethylene-propylene rubber (SKEP) mixtures of 90:10 composition. It was shown that treatment of homopolymer under these conditions lowers their physico-mechanical properties caused by a reduction in molecular weight as a consequence of mechanochemical degradation. Treatment under conditions of high pressure and shear deformation of PP-PE and PP-SKEP mixtures considerably improves physico-mechanical properties, which is the result of reduced phase dimensions of PE and SKEP in the PP matrix.
