Abstract
Abstract The micellization and interfacial behaviours of two amphiphilic drugs (adephinine and clomipramine hydrochlorides) in the presence of hydrotropes (sodium salicylate and sodium benzoate) have been investigated by surface tension measurements. Micellar and interfacial compositions at different stoichiometeric mole fractions of the hydrotropes have been evaluated using Rubingh's and Rosen's models. Synergism was found in mixed micelles as well as in mixed monolayers. Thermodynamic parameters (ΔG mic o , ΔG ex, G min , ΔG ads o ) indicate that mixed systems are more stable than the individual systems with CLP-hydrotrope > ADP-hydrotrope systems.
