Abstract

Plasma cermet Ni-Mo coatings containing 30 or 68 vol % carbon nanotubes as a strengthening phase are produced by the mechanical alloying method in a planetary mill. Dense coatings consisting of disklike particles and having a microhardness of 9.83 GPa are obtained by spraying powder containing 30 vol % carbon nanotubes. The coatings containing 68 vol % carbon nanotubes are less dense, and their microhardness is 3.03 GPa.
