Abstract

Congenital muscle torticollis is one of the most common congenital diseases of the musculoskeletal system (5-12%) ranking third. 3 out of 1000 children are diagnosed with torticollis. None of the many theories of the occurrence of curvature fully reveals the mechanism of the occurrence of this pathology. Therefore, it is considered one of the urgent problems of pediatric orthopedics. The aim of the work is to study the methods of physical rehabilitation used in the treatment of congenital muscle torticollis, to find out their effectiveness and to discover new approaches. One of the main causes of curvature is dysfunction of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, which leads to its shortening. Violation, underdevelopment of this muscle is mainly associated with birth trauma. The main symptoms are incorrect position of the head, tilting and turning of the face, neck deformation. However, different changes may occur depending on the degree of damage. After diagnosis, timely treatment is very important. From the literature we studied, it became clear that the most effective methods of treatment are exercises, massage, hydrokinesiotherapy, and kinesiotaping. However, the effectiveness of all these methods lie in their correct combination. It is important to remember that one should start treatment in the first months of a child's life regularly until he fully recovers. Correctly selected remedies at an early stage will help the child to avoid further complications and surgery.
