Abstract

Abstract Sand waves with foresets separated by mud drapes (bundle structure) allow a discrete distance of sand wave advance to be associated with a certain tidal interval. An iterative model is described for estimation of the paleotidal flow velocities from these features of sand waves. The model is based principally upon the well known bedload transport formula of Bagnold. A description and full listing of the computer program is given which allows computation of the velocities using the model.
